What is Dew point (DP)?

• The Dew point temperature is the temperature at which the air can no longer hold all of its water vapor and some of the water vapor must condense into liquid water.
• Condensation of liquid water vapor begins when the temperature of air is lowered to its dew point and beyond.
• The dew point is associated with relative humidity.
• A High relative humidity indicates that the dew point is closer to the current air temperature.
• Relative humidity of 100% indicates the dew point is equal to the current temp. and the air is maximally saturated with water.
• When the dew point remains constant and temp. increases, relative humidity will decrease.

Dew Point Application:

• In summer of high humidity season, identifies and warns when conditions for mould growth exists.
• In winter or low humidity season, identifies and warns when conditions for static electricity exists.
• Air temp. and dew point temp. indicate where condensation may occur.
• Monitor conditions in laboratories, basement and other controlled environment settings.
